ENABLING ENVIRONMENT
As part of the sustainability strategy of UBR, advocacy and creating an enabling environment have received increased attention. Parents meetings were held and relevant stakeholders were trained and involved in the programme. As parents and other gatekeepers strongly influence the decision making of young people, it is important to involve parents and other gatekeepers in the programme. As mostly women (specifically mothers) attend parents meetings, a male engagement component will be included in the programme, ensuring positive male involvement.
The advocacy strategy of the UBR programme has been adjusted through the years of implementation. In the beginning, advocacy was conducted by organizing meetings with different stakeholders in each upazila without linkage to efforts in other upazilas. Day observance programs were organized without linkages to ongoing CSE and YFS activities or to the learning groups.
